CPM E-BOOK LOGIN

Today (8/28) students either checked out a hardcover textbook (to keep at home until the end of the school year) or they were given access to the e-textbook. Unfortunately, we need to order more hardcover textbooks, so those students that requested a hardcover book but did not receive one will have to be patient and use the e-book in the meantime.

To access the e-book students should go to ebooks.cpm.org and login with their GOOGLE LOGIN.

Please email me with any access issues.

 Mrs. Champion, Room 51

Welcome to CC8/Algebra! This year students will work towards mastering Common Core 8th grade and Algebra math standards with an emphasis on developing a GROWTH MINDSET!

Reaching me…

Email: tchampion@orinda.k12.ca.us   (preferred) Class phone: (925) 258-6274

Office Hours: I will make myself available to students at least once per week during lunch. However, I am always happy to meet with students with a little notice ahead of time (before or after school, or at lunch).

School Loop Site: ois.orindaschools.org

PUBLIC Textbook Site: http://cpm.org/cca          E-book Login: ebooks.cpm.org (must enroll with class code)

STUDENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO COME TO CLASS WITH THE FOLLOWING THREE ITEMS ON A DAILY BASIS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THEY PROCURE THESE ITEMS FROM ME OR ON THEIR OWN:

  • Math Journal (I will provide one to each student)

  • Pencil

  • Single subject spiral notebook for math only

Where to find class info... I will utilize School Loop and Google Classroom to post assignments, announcements, resources and grades. Students will be expected to know how to utilize both of these tools. **Please allow one week for updates to grades**

Although School Loop is a very valuable tool for parents, it is preferred that students address concerns about grades directly with me, in person or via email. This will not only help develop a sense of responsibility, but will help to eliminate any confusion or miscommunication in terms of what is missing and will help facilitate corrections in a more efficient manner.

Textbook - The CC8/Algebra math class utilizes the College Preparatory Mathematics curriculum. Students will be provided either a physical or digital copy of the textbook to use at home, to be returned at the conclusion of the school year (hard copy only). Copies of the textbook are available in class to avoid the need for students to transport the textbook between home and school each day. Students requiring more than one copy of the book to accommodate more than one household will be given digital access to the e-book.

Quarterly Grading (approximate)- grades reset each quarter

  • Formal Assessments (no retakes) - 50% of grade

  • Everything Else  - 50% of grade

  • Items that fall into the “everything else” category include, but are not limited to: homework, problem of the week, warm-ups, and in class work. Many of these assignments will be “repairable” to foster the development of a growth mindset.

**No extra credit will be awarded**

A Website for Skills Practice

Students are aware that they are expected to catch-up on any 5th grade skills with which they are deficient. They should also be aware of their deficiencies, as they took a pretest and we analyzed their abilities. This website is an excellent place to practice skills and get caught up!
