Fall Semester Clubs

Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code is a national non-profit free after school program for 6-12 grade girls to use computer science to impact their community and join in a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models. Girls Who Code is dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology. Wednesdays, room 23 from 3:30-4:45.


Spirit Club

The members of the Spirit Club will propose, organize spirit activity days, and various organized events throughout the semester to let kids show off their school spirit and enrich the OIS community. Fridays, in room 22.


Chess/Strategy Game Club

Students will be able to test their strategy skills against fellow students in chess and other board games. Thursdays, in room 13.


Creativity Club

Students will be able to work on any creative project they want: clay, hand building projects, pottery, painting, drawing and more. Tuesdays in room 92.


Def Jam Poetry Slam

In a safe and productive environment, students can come in and share their thoughts, feelings, emotions, and ideas through poetry, song, story, and video. Fridays, in Room 26.


Makers Club

Students will have the opportunity to make an assortment of projects from wood, metal, plastic, ceramics and textiles. Wednesdays in room 21.


History Club

A place where a diverse group of learners can explore the historical themes of our nation. Exploring local, state, national, and world history topics of their own choice, students will be encouraged to participate in the Contra Costa County History Day Event. Tuesdays, in room 64.


Green Team

Students discuss topics about the environment and work together to develop ways OIS become a more Green campus. Some of the activities are:

  • Digging through the trash to find badly placed trash
  • Raising awareness about green products
  • Educating more students with green movies
