Choir Objective:
OIS Choir will provide opportunities for students to grow musically, while strengthening their voices and gaining self-confidence. Students will develop skills in sight singing, music theory, part-singing, as well as audition, dance and performance skills. Choir is a great way to have fun, make friends and explore the art of performing.
My main focus will be on classroom activities. I want students to learn a wide variety of Music and Movement. Choir should be a fun outlet for the students, a break from the academic world. However, a few assignments will be added to enhance their learning and experience.
About Myself:
I am very excited to starting my twelve year as Choral Director for Orinda Intermediate School in the Orinda Union School District. I have experience teaching Choir, Dance, Drama and Musical Theater. I hold a BFA in Musical Theater from Brigham Young University. I am a trained dancer and actress as well as a Singer. My first love is Musical Theater, but I have great passion for classical music and jazz music as well. I look forward to sharing a wide variety of repertoire with the OIS Choir.
I am also actively involved in performing with various Theater Companies in the Bay Area, such as Woodminster, Diablo Theater Company, Alameda Civic Light Opera and Tri-Valley Repertory Theater. I am the Director for the Musical Kids Program at Contra Costa Civic Theater in El Cerrito and Musical Director for Piedmont High Schools Musical program.
